2001 Haarlem Evangelisch Lutherse kerk
The organ in Haarlem
has been built in 1882 by Julius Alexander Strobel from Frankenhausen (Germany).
In 1902 repairs by Michaël Maarschalkerweerd
(1838-1915). Most ranks were shifted one tone an therefore became a new C-pipe.
In 1924 the
Bazuin 16' was renewed by Karel Pieter van Ingen (1888-1968) by a Baryton 8'.
Between 1942 and 1948 the organ was changed by Pels to an organ with 3 manuals
and electric action.
About 1970 the organ became useless and a temporary organ was procured.
Only in 1996 plans were made to restorate the organ.
Dr. Van Nieuwkoop was appointed as adviser. In 1998 Steendam could start wis
the reconstruction.
Material has been used from another Strobel organ from 1874/1882 in the Bakenesserkerk in
Haarlem. Other ranks are reconstructed from examples in the Strobel-organs in Schernberg
and Toba.
Jaap Brouwer has written a book about
Strobel.
The book has been published by Pape Verlag in Berlin.
